All you guys rock.

Here's what I got.
95 Montero SR 3.5 175,000
Coils 1 year old. New cam sensor.

Wife came home, RAN FINE. Next morning, rough idle. I disconnected thin wire set connection at coil 1 (closest to front of vehicle), very noticable change in idle, same with coil 2. I disconnected #3, no change in idle. That tells me problem is coil pack #3 or power to coil pack.
While idling, I test "female pins" (jack pins?), 2 wires from ICM; 15 volts conintuous.
Change coil with old coil from a year ago, no idea if good or not, same result.
Someone here had a similar issue and was ICM, but I have power coming from ICM to coil.

Probably coil right? I am broke and can only trouble shoot and spend enough for 1 coil. ICM's are $250.

Any thoughts????

Did u test the coil ohms at primary and secondary? There's a way to test ICM as well and is describe in FSM use a 1.5v DC battery and meter.

I tested it with my meter which is a construction type. It read .09 ohms at the pins.
I don't get any reading between the coil "head" and the spark plug side. That tells me that it has no connectivity???

It would be nice to know how these coils work.

I found that page. Thanks:)
So if there was no reading on secondary test, wouldn't you say it was bad coil?

Move the suspect bad coil to another position and put a known good coil in the suspect spot. Say swap two and three. Do it. Go do it now.
