Have seen too many videos and write ups to know exactly what's the proper procedure. Any one have any luck?

Where is it poured & will it have any effect on the seals inside?

Body Damage is Cool
You can add it directly to your oil to help remove sludge and varnish inside the motor - add it a few hundred miles before your next oil change. I've found that adding a quart of ATF works just as well.

You can add it to your fuel tank to help clean injectors also.

When in doubt, read the instructions on the can.

It won't hurt anything.

The most common method is to disconnect the hose to your brake booster (at the booster). Stick that end into a bowl/cup/etc of Seafoam, hovering it over the liquid so it's just barely touching and sucks the liquid up via vacuum. I use half the can typically. Shut the car off as soon as it sucks it up. Let it sit 5-10 mins, then idle it out.

I really don't think this does much on scaled carbon deposits, as I've done head work a few times and seen what it takes to physically remove the scaling. I've let Seafoam soak on head setting on a bench and it had no effect. But, I'm sure it's got to clean something or it wouldn't be so popular...right?!

Nah, really, it's probably good at cleaning sludge.

As for cleaning the fuel system, use a couple gallons of E85. It's a lot cheaper.

I've done this countless times. Not entirely sure how effective it is at cleaning the kind of baked-on gnar in older, neglected Pajeros, but I still like to do it every couple of years. The general rules, as I see them...

1/3 can into a warm engine via vac line, remainder of can in the gas tank.

1. Get the engine up to operating temp.
2. Disconnect a good vac line that runs directly to the intake mani. Dip this into the Seafoam - gently! The engine will bog.
3. Manually open the throttle with your free hand to keep the engine from stalling.
4. When you're almost done, just let the engine suck it down and flood out.
5. Let the engine sit for a couple minutes so the Seafoam can soak in and do it's thang.
6. Pour the remainder of the can into the gas tank.
7. Make sure none of your prissy neighbors (or the police) are outside.
8. Start the vehicle. Might require a little right foot. Let it idle.
9. Admire the epic smoke screen. (We all know this can't be good for the environment.)
10. Butt dyno test.

I've used it most often as a water dispersant in marine fuel tanks, and as an injector cleaner. I've also used straight acetone into the fuel tank with better results.

To remove the carbon deposits in the engine, spray water into the intake with the engine at high idle. Anyone who has ever seen the cylinder results of a blown headgasket has seen how well a little water works in removing these deposits. A small spray bottle will work - remove the air cleaner and have at it.

I dump a quart of atf into the oil about 100mi before a change, too.
