Hi All,
I can't find a definite answer on this, and it's been awhile since I last replaced the timing belt.
Is the oil pump accessible/possible to change without removing the oil pan, raising the engine, etc. (3.0 engine)
At 250K original miles, my oil pressure is getting lower by the minute, and am hoping I can do something about it without a major repair. Thanks

Not sure on the 12V SOHC, but the 24V needs the oil pan dropped.

Nope, to unbolt the pickup tube you have to drop the pan. to drop the pan you have to raise the engine and rotate front diff.

Are you sure that the oil pump is the reason for the pressure drop? There are a lot of reasons for pressure drop such as worn bearings etc.

Thanks guys. The low presure is probably from a combination of things. On cold start-up, the pressure gets up to 70psi, but when warm the pressure is 30 at 3000rpm, and 20 at idle. Looks like an overhaul is in the cards in the next year or two...

what kinda gauge are you using? A 3.0 warm only runs about 10 lbs. at idle, around 700 rpm. I run 80 lbs at cold start/idle,,,like 1,400 rpm. Running around town - 40-60 lbs. I have a very accurate autometer mechanical gauge. I added an idiot light with a 20 lb switch. I get the red light when I sit at a red light. I'm not worried. The electric gauge on your dash is very slow to respond and is not very accurate. ( just noticed,,,V5MT1-3 coversion,,, )

The pressure looks pretty much OK. The 70 psi cold looks high depending on ambient/oil grade, the hot 30 at 3K is about where mine runs and the 20 at idle looks high, mine runs about 10 psi. Maybe you want to attach an alternate gauge to see what it shows. What grade oil you running?

Just put in a cheapo mech gave from autozone, because my dummy light was blinking sometimes at idle. So maybe I'm ok. I'll look for a better gage. And yes, I love the 5-speed.
