Getting the Wheeling Fever
The back of the drivers seat broke at the attachment to the lower part of the seat. My question is this. Are the Passenger seat and the driver seat interchangeable? I know the controls would be on the inside but otherwise can the seat itself (not the frame)be switched? They are bolting up to bouncy seat frames.

Body Damage is Cool
All I can say is this. In my 1990 there is a driver bouncy frame under the passenger seat. Dunno about the Gen 2 trucks.

On my 96 SR (same as the 95) which has an electric Driver's seat? No, they're not interchangeable. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

The electric seats are not interchangeable with the manual seats in any way, except by bolting in the entire seat. The power seat base is constructed differently to accommodate the power adjustment mechanisms, and the seat cushions are constructed differently in order to attach to the different base.

I don't need to exchange the base just the actual seat it self. it bolts to the frame and then the frame bolts to the floor. The bouncy base is fine, just the seat..
thx

the seats from an electric base will not work on a non-electric base.

Where is the boken part itself? It sounds like the base, as the backs are otherwise not interchangeable due to the armrests. Yours is an LS, which is likely non-power. I've had the covers off of a couple of seats at this point. Can't recall for sure, but I think the way the seat base is setup for the adjusting levers will make them not interchangeable. Can't be sure though. Maybe the FSM will help?

How bad did it break? That is, I had one back on my Gen I's first seats fail, but was easily able to weld it back up.

I'm sure they will bolt up to the bouncy seat frame, but I also think the center console will be in the way of the seat handles/controls and the arm rest may interfere with the door. Just guessing on my part.

As suggested, take the seat apart and have it welded. I think you will be much happier.
