Need a Spot
Gentlemen,

Was using the column switch to go from bright to low beam while turning steering wheel at same time....

When I completed the turn noticed lights were still in bright so I clicked on the switch to go to low and the familiar clicking sound was gone so's I was stuck on bright...

Left and right signal indicators were ok when using the switch and when I turned off all the lights (clearance and dashboard) using the switch my headlights were still stuck on on bright...

When I turned headlight switch off then engine off headlights were still on high....so's I just pulled out the fuse on the engine bay to completely turn off the headlights....

Problem gone BUT completely have no headlights....

Would appreciate any comments and inputs.....thanks

1. The original grease on the slide or ratchet mechanism that toggles the switch part may have gummed up.
2. The switch may need to be cleaned with electric contact cleaner in case the point carriage is lodged.
3. A general cleaning and relube seems to be in order.

To get at the switch, in the case of a Gen I Montero:
A. Disconnect battery cables.
B. Remove steering wheel.
C. Remove steering column covers.
D. Unplug combo switch connectors and pull switch assembly from the steering column.
