New to forum.I just bought a 2000 4-door 4x4.Upgrading my 2001 2x4 two door.I just want to verify the tranmission cases are different and will need to be swapped. Also ,if anyone has done this, will the rear drive shaft have to be cut down on lenght?

Save yourself the headache and find a 4x4 two door. You have to weld diff mounts to the front cross members, there are some computer issues to deal with. You either need to get the warn manual hubs or run some type of manual vacuum switch (cuz you dont have the right computer to run the auto switch) to run the vacuum lines you have to add to engage the front drive train.

From what I understand all of the auto trannies are the same. You take the 2x tail piece off the transmission and bolt the transfercase on in its place. You will need to source new drive shafts as the 4x Tcase and 2x tailpiece are different lengths(tcase is longer). So the 2x 2dr rear will be a little too long and the 4x4 4dr will be a lot too long.

Want to sell the 4dr 4x4?

I checked and all the mounting points, they are there on my two wheel drive. I expected to have to cut down and spin balance my drive shaft. The transmission was my biggest ? . I thougth I <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> could remove the extension and replace it with the transfere case, but the transmission case didn't look the same from under the sportages.
