Well I finally got a starion engine in the montero but when I built it I used the cam that came with the engine. It is a little hotter that stock and I am only drawing about 17 in of vacuum, that doesn't assist enough. What are my options? Just put on gen2 calipers and disks, Swap cams, or maybe some sort of vacuum pump or bigger booster?

Body Damage is Cool
How about one of those vacuum balls from an S-10 or Chevy to have a larger supply to work with? So you'll be ready to get to Hardrock in the next couple months?

Vanco hydraulic assist? Electric-over-vaccum pump?

Fords have a (small) coffee can sized one on the late 70's trucks. They work great, I ran one on a mustang with a big cam.

Starions had a vac pump and canister, too. To run the cruise, I guess....

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Could use a vacuum resovoir as the old vehicles used to, in the '50's and '60's. looke like an orange juice can with two fittings soldered on, factory equipment, so it worked.

I will be up in D.C. around that time. However, if I can get the exhaust fabbed and everything dialed in I will be in your neighborhood in a week or two.

Check the function of the inline check valve in the booster vac line. You should see much higher than 17" on decel if you are still in gear, and that vac should remain in the booster to be available on braking. Is the booster sound?

Check valve (off a starion) is good and I haven't driven except around the block, but still should have had enough vac to help it stop. The booster was fine before the swap but with anything this old it could be. One problem after another, but is turning out nice. Just while trying to get it running and boosting I found a bad wire in the harness for the maf and at the same time had a coil that bench tested fine but was not(imagine that).

Eddie, What is that off of? I might have just enough room for something like that
