Question for Addco swaybar veterans. #99981 11/07/02 10:00 PM

Last month I installed my front Addco sway bar and I've noticed over time that the bar shifts from side to side within the mounting brackets slightly. No more than 1/8 of an inch to either side. I noticed this because the grease near the mounting brackets is "pushed" away from the edges of the bushings.

Is this normal or OK? When I removed my stock front bar I didn't notice any evidence of shifting like this. That's why I'm wondering.

Should I tighten the bolts any more? Thanks.

Body Damage is Cool
This isn't an answer but a followup question: what sort of grease did you use to grease your sway bar bushings?

I think it's normal, mine does it all the time and i've been using it for 2 years. I hope this helps.

Yes the shifting is normal, I've noticed the same thing. The anti-sway bar is designed to move a little, your 1/8" is good.
I'm always sure to check my mounting brackets and end links with every oil change.
As far as the grease, I also use the marine grade black grease.
BTW, I've had my Addcos for over 2 years now.

Thanks all, just making sure nothing was wrong. That Addco bar definatelly makes handling so much sweeter.

I got the rear Energy sway bar bushing and end link busing for stock bar, I feel little stiffer. Any body in here using any kind of better sway bar bushing for front stock bar.
where can I buy those bushings, and any one know
who sells Addco sway bar less money? I think I'll put Bilstein Shock and coil springs for my 3rd Gen 4Runner also. I need to shop around for that handling mods. Any one has tip to install addco sway bars?
Thanks first!

The shifting seems normal to me as well. I also notice it by the grease marks left. I use waterproof green marine grade grease. I just greased the ES bushing up this weekend, sure is simple with the zerk fitted brackets <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Get the ones with the zerk fittings so you can re-grease them without taking them off. You'll find these at www.summitracing.com

As far as best prices for Addco swaybars, the 2 places that come to mind are www.shox.com and Performance Products. I got mine from PP but check Shox for their price. When PP had their 15% off sale the prices were good. Hope this helps.
