Plans seem to always be changing lately. But looks like we are headed up Wednesday afternoon through Sunday. Trails look like they are cracking wide open already which is unbelievable. Of course we will hit the parade and fireworks. Plan to camp below Black Bear pass if anyone wants to join us. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Where? Bolivia....ahhh the death road and a 20K volcano....now we are talking! Probably wont make Silverton next year with the move and all, but since we are moving up to the high country next year we will start doing a lot more trips that way. Silverton is kind of light duty for kids, and has a lot of extra activities. Keep in mind mine are 1.5 and 3.5 and will be on all the trips moving forward.

Right, an adventurous family four-wheeling trip is what I'd seek. I did the a bunch of those trails ovver ten years ago now on a Memorial Day weekend. Lots of the trails were opened the week before, though we saw the dozer up on Immogene (so?) still fighting through. Those high trails with the mountains and old mines and all were fun.

We went into the mountains from The Springs, though the plateau to Basalt to meet up with a friend there, then made our way to Gunnison and Montrose before taking to the trails from Uncompahgre to Ouray to Telluride, though the San Juans to Durango. Finished with a cataraft run down the Animas as it was running with the spring melt off.

Not any sort of an extreme trip for wheeling, but very memorable nonetheless. What was lacking in difficulty was made up for in distance and sites seen.

For the last several years Black bear, Imogene etc didn't open until the end of August. I was there last year in the middle of August and Imogene wasn't open.

Perhaps they didn't get alot of snow. Are you sure they will be open Lloyd?

I called the Ouray visitor center. Imogene is open and Black Bear should be open on the 4th. They are doing work on Black Bear. I stand corrected...ah that is beautiful area..

Enjoy

Body Damage is Cool
I was going to go bus camping with my friends. At the Telluride town park on the 4th. Kind of turning into an annual thing. But I broke my ankle on the first of June. So funds are kind of low. Maybe someone will buy my old black Raider. That I have listed here on 4x4wire. If not have fun Lloyd. Would like to meet up with you again.

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.
