I need some help for those that are good with parts numbers:
Looking to identify the part number and correct terminology to describe this part -- it's marked J121 and sits on a bracket attached to what I think is the Ignition Coil Assembly (Md131711). I always called it the ignition module but in my 89 raider parts manual I can only find reference to the assembly, same too with the FSM. I see this part (j121 thing) sold in lots of places but I'm not sure if there are different iterations of this same thing that need to be specified for my vehicle. Can anyone help me out? Many Thanks
EDIT TO ADD: It might also be called a power transistor

Did you check on the Mitsu ASA program? All you need is your VIN to look up the right part number.

Not entirely sure how to source this ASA program -- is there a website? (a PM perhaps?) Would I need a North American version? Sounds like something I need.

It's called the power transistor. Have you tested it? They hardly ever go bad. It takes a 5v source to test it. Procedure is in the factory service manual, available on mitsubishilinks.com. I think the ASA program is on there, too. ASA is the mitsu parts program the dealer uses.

Please read the sticky posts at the top of this forum. There's a reason we've spent so much time compiling that info. Thanks! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

HI Off Roader: I thought I communicated fairly specifically what my question was. I indicated that I had both the service manual and the actual parts manual for the vehicle - that I knew what the part was but that I wasn't sure what is was called -- I've seen it called the ignition module but that terminology is disputed, I've seen it called the ICM, the ignition transistor, power transistor -- I've seen links and places where it was for sale --- I've also seen contradictory information that exclude this part (as I've commonly found it online) from being compatible with my vehicle which is why I asked about iterations (possibly errors). Coupled with about 2 hours spent prior to posting searching the forum for a specific reference I'm pretty sure I did my due diligence to show I wasn't looking for a free ride here. Can you suggest how I could have gone about this differently. If I've overlooked some obvious reference or step I'd love to know as I have great respects and gratitude for peoples time and assistance here including your own. Many Thanks (And thanks to all so far for their assistance).
