Intake manifold from my '88 Montero 2.6L. The sensor(?) circled below is the part in question. There were two vacuum ports that were brittle and broke off. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Found a stamping on it that reads F8J22, but had no luck googling it.

That is a ported vacuum switch, I think for the distributor advance...especially since it is only an in/out switch. Check on mitsubishiparts.com or rockauto.com for this part.

1986-1988 Should be MD101597. Without a VIN I cant be sure. Also downloading the Mitsubisha ASA parts program to look up parts is handy.
'89 Raider V6 auto.

It's a thermo vacuum switch. It switches the operation of the egr depending on engine temperature. Various solenoid valves and other gizmos switch the vac around, too. THis is why the 2.6 has so many vacuum lines. I once spent some time tracing out the 2.6 vac diagram, figuring out what did what, and whatever path you traced, it ended up at the egr or venting to atmo except for one isolated bunch that went to the sas and distributor.
Not responsible for advice not taken...

Turned out to be a flux capacitor after all. Though I went for a drive in a thunderstorm and now my town is looking a little weird and my wife is looking older than I remembered. Oh well, nothing matters because the Montero is running like a top. Thanks for the help guys. Where do I download the Mitsubishi ASA part lookup program?

Check out the FAQ post at the top of the Mitsu Tech forum page. It has answers to most of the common question like where can you download the ASA program (mitsubishilinks.com).
