Hey guys, I cannot seem to find any info on the lack of PWR/ECO switch on my Gen2.5.

The main issue I have is that my shift points and torque converter lock seem to be happening too early and even on acceleration from a roll, my TC will not unlock and the engine bogs. My Gen2.5 with the 3.5L is much slower than my Gen2 with the 3.0L. I don't think this should be the case.

My Gen2 had the PWR/ECO button that seemed to resolve this issue. So my question is...before I start tearing my interior apart...does anyone know if the wiring is still in place to add the PWR/ECO switch to the Gen2.5? If so, will the TCU even accept this? Are the TCU's the same part# for both trucks?

I'm thinking about having Brokeback grab the TCU and switch from that parts SR if my harness will accept the changes. Thanks for looking.

Someone along the way said the the later Gen II ECU was programmed for PWR/Sport by default, leaving just the Hold selection.

My 00 with the 32s just plain sucks a$$. Even when I do get it to downshift, I can't stand the overall feel of how it runs. I am going to catch up with Charlie one of these days and rekindle our past discussions on a 5-spd swap.

Yeah, I've heard that too. I think I'm going to attempt to install the gen2 TCU and pwr/eco button in my gen2.5. My old green truck would run circles around the new one! Unacceptable.

Yeah they definately would but I think it would be a bandaid fix. Anyone know where the TCU is located?

I don't think you need to worry about the switch, the 2.5 does the PWR mode automatically. Yes these trucks do shift all goofy BUT regearing solves the problem, if it's that big of a deal just do the job properly and don't waste your time on switches and nonsense. Regearing is not a bandaid fix, it is THE fix. I've owned many different combos of Gen 2 with almost all different gearing options (minus 3.5 DOHC and 4.90) these trucks can pull power and i'm pretty sure the only reason they got 4.27's was for emissions.

Otherwise

If you want to run "Power mode" you need to mash your pedal, if that's not enough get 4.90's.

Maybe the pwr/eco switch is not the answer, but something is wrong with mine. The TC should not lock while accelerating. I've got some type of issue somewhere.

I don't notice mine lock until after i stop accelerating in 4th gear, I'm not sure mine even locks when my OD is off. I'm not saying it doesn't lock in the lower gears i'm saying i don't feel it unless i'm in 4th. I've driven around watching the tach in different gears and still have only seen it drop (TC locked) in 4th gear.

Maybe a solenoid stuck possibly on your truck?

Check to see if your TPS is properly adjusted. There was a post recently about the proper procedure, a search should turn it up.
