Hey guys, i tried search but couldnt find the info i need. However i do appologize if this has been covered. Hopefully someone can redirect me to find this info. I need to know the different gear sizes and ratios for all monteros including sports. A chart would be great but i cant find it. Pretty much what i want to do is install an sr complete rear on the wife's 2wd jeep xj. I installed one on my 88 montero 2.6 and love it. The jeep has 3.55 gearing with about 29 inch tires and runs well. So if i get an axle with 4.625s i would need like 35 inch tires which i dont want. All i want is 31 inch tires. So bottom line is im trying to find or regear an SR locked rear with 4.22s. Im trying to keep it all junkyard style because ive got no money
IIRC the early SRs have a smaller ring gear, maybe the the size of the MSport's rear? Which i believe some (maybe the 2wd) to have 4.22s?

Sure i know the whole front will need mods for 6 lug conversion and blah blah blah.....

Tanks in advance guys!!!!!!

I don't know if that's the case, but you're not going to find a locked axle in a 2wd ;-)

By that i meant i thought there was a posibility of geting an early sr axle and put the 2wd's 4.22s in it. Do you know if these two have the same size ring gear? Thanks, buddy!

'97-'99 Montero will have 4.27 gears and rear locker.

Are you going to run wheel adapters to 5 lug in back or wheel adapters to 6 lug up front?

Thanks for the info!!! Wuld that be a 9 or 9.5 in ring gear?

I dont like the design of either of those adapters. Ive read about converting my front to 6 lug using dodge and chevy parts from the yard.
