Just wondering if there are any Montero Sport owners here. Curious about your experiences with them or mods that you have made.

The MS is built off the pickup truck frame, so those owners may be able to help. Also search user dannytuned for a highly modded MS

From what I understand the 1st gen and 1.5 gen MS were built on Gen 2 Full size frame. The new models after 04 are based on the Triton.

Conflicting information from Wikipedia. Info says second gen Pajero Wheelbase maybe that means two different things I took it as frame. But related to Triton. So I don't know...

They probably meant that they have the same wheelbase, 107" between the front axle center to rear axle center. So they share a measurement, Mitsubishi recycles a lot. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

IMHO the sport has always been designed as a smaller, lighter duty version of the Montero/Pajero (early 2 door montero's were the original Montero Sport). Perhaps the Triton Chassis is smaller and/or lighter duty so this is why they based it on this chassis.

I have both the Sport (2000 Limited) and the GenII Montero. No mods on the Sport but I use it for daily driving duties. I find it easy to work on and I have been getting 20MPG with mixed highway and city driving. Not bad considering it has the 3.5L. In 2000 the Montero Sport ditched the rear leaf springs so the lift options changed a little. The Torsion bar can gain you an inch or two in the front. I think most sport owners opt for the OME lift. http://www.monterosportonline.net/Another site/forum for Montero Sport owners.

I've driven both. MS is lighter, more frame flex, slightly chintzier, gives the impression of being narrower.
