It happens rarely, but it happens. I can pull the pedal up with my shoe sole, and it returns to normal.... until the next time. I'm in the U.S. for a while and it happens on my Gen1.

Flushing and replacing the fluid is easy enough. I'd start there.

The little clutch slave cylinder may need replaces, a very easy fix.

The little clutch slave cylinder may need replaces, a very easy fix. I second this. At the very least there's some air in there, and there's a *reason* there's air in there. You need to fix the reason. I would actually suggest doing master/slave at the same time and replace the rubber hose too if possible.

Had the same issue on my Starion, turned out to be the throw-out bearing was cracked, and dragging on the input shaft. New TO bearing, and she's as good as new! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Thanks! It was the slave cylinder. Lots of pumping by hand to get to my tools in Ferndale on the way from Bellevue. Once stuck in the left lane due to construction on I5. Oh well; no one hit me.

I love driving with no clutch. I once nursed a Fiat spider from the far east side of ATL to the far north suburbs to buy a clutch cable (mine had broken) in Friday rush hour traffic so I could make my 4 times weekly commute ATL-BHAM when I first started working here in 85. Kill the motor and coast to a stop, put it in 1st, crank it in gear when the light changed, rpm match each shift, blip the throttle to unload the tranny so you could put it in neutral, repeat, repeat, repeat. Made lots of new friends, saw lots of monodigital salutes, heard lots of horns (it was very slow off the line and tricky on the up/down shifts)

I drove my Raider home in stop and go traffic on the freeway like that, as it wouldn't shift either (broken clutch bits). So much fun! (not)

I understand the theory of crash boxes. Doesn't help me much. Let's give a Nobel to the inventor of synchros (and clutches).
