I'm pretty sure I pulled my gen1 4cyl fuel pickuptube assembly out of the front of the tank from underneath.

OK...now I understand after crawling under my Gen1....that is the WORST idea ever. I thought that plate was braized onto the front of the tank...didn't realize it was just screwed on. So you're relying on a rubber gasket when over 1/2 tank to prevent leakage.....I'm dang near afraid to take it loose!!!

Anyone have a picture with correct orientation in the event mine is wrong (or are the holes spaced to prevent mounting it wrong)? Just trying to figure out the fuel pickup loss with 3-4 gallons still in the tank. Thanks again guys!

Just install it so the pickup is as low as possible. Hard to get wrong...

It's five screws, indexing is not a problem. Pickup tube points down.

I was just wanting to confirm I'm actually pulling from the pickup right now instead of the return line without pulling it If my fuel pump is pulling off the return line....that answers my issue...LOL.

Actually....no need. Looking at those pictures the pickup is the larger diameter one. Headed outside to crawl under again!

Nope....I have it hooked up right

Just a thought, I'm running a 255 lph pump and that return exits right at the pickup.....think I may be frothing/aerating the fuel when levels get low since I'm returning a TON a fuel??? Then the pickup sucking bubbles???

Guess I have to pull it no matter what to check for pinholes in the pickup tube.

Quit stalling and take it out....

The pickup sock will block the bubbles with it's mesh. IIRC, there's a rubber hose piece in there, too.

Nothing better than going to bed smelling of gasoline....that should turn the Mrs. on

You mean like a rubber hose inside the sock?

No, I take it back, since there's no fuel pump in the tank like a stock FI engine has. However, if the truck sat with bad fuel in it, you could have rust holes in the steel pickup tube...
