Body Damage is Cool
i was driving my 89 3.0 2dr, last night i was driving to school 2.5 hrs away. it was driving smooth and then i was getting off the interstate and that light came on. i said no worries i am pulling over anyways. I was at the gas station for over and hour and check the tranny fluid level twice. it was a little over full when hot but definitely not low. did not see any leaks. so i drove over an hour while it was cool outside making sure not to get the engine over 200 rpms hoping that would not strain the tranny. but it acted smooth and fine. Fast forward this afternoon i needed to move it. i know it has cooled off since last night. Crank it up and the light is still on. What is going on. Is there a sensor that tripped and its staying on or is it grounding out somewhere? i like these monteros but it is definitely been a love hate relationship.

Was it wet outside? It could just be water shorting out the sender at the transmission. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Common problem, usually from wet, but not always. Sender is in the pside cooler line outlet from the tranny.

Are you checking with the truck running? Has to be running to check if full. Also Light may have nothing to do with full or not- have to do with temp- Or when the sensor gets wet LOL (happened to me LOL) as said before. When sensor fails as mine did it stayed on until I had it replaced.

Oh yeah definitely checked it running. I have tried looking for this part at the local parts stores and having no luck. Is it a dealership only part? Does anyone havea spare? With me being back in school and away from home I do not have the access to tools and things I did have. So hopefully it is something I can fix in the parking lot with a set of sockets. I tried to find this sensor thing in the service manual must be mising because I am not seeing anything about it. Thanks for yalls time.

Dealer part only, I think. Access is very tight between tranny and exhaust.

I have been ding some research between my mountains of reading I have to for class. I can seem to findmit in the service manual. I have looked through chapter 21 and not seeing anything more than a reference to it in the wiring diagram. I think I have found the part number MD609333. I think I found it on rockauto. Is this it?
