I am getting ready to have my frame media blasted and painted for transplant. I am having a problem trying to decide on having it powder coated or doing it my self with a two part epoxy frame paint. My question is how did it leave the factory ? Does anybody know what kind of coating was used on the frame from factory ? Any help would be great! Or if anybody has had experiance with a product that works well for this application. I am trying to get as close to factory spec as possible.

I'd guess OEM was an E-Coat. Tough to do at home. I'd go with epoxy paint. Powder coat? Do you have access to a very big oven?

I alsways liked the stuff Mercedes uses, a flexible self healing rubberized undercoating.

I don't know if it's still a the best option but a lot of LC guys use POR on their frames (which are known to be rusty).

If you use POR, check if what ur using is UV stable. If it isn't, you'll need to paint over it with UV stable paint.
