Something in the bottom end went. I limped into Umatilla, OR. my cousin rented a trailer and we towed it to Homedale, ID where the local ace mechanic is. He found a JDM (1 year guarantee). I hope to be up and running Friday. I'll have my old complete engine. New heads etc., something bad in the bottom end. So..... if anyone in these parts is interested, let me know. It will go into storage in Jordan Valley, OR, while I decide what to do with it. If I were here long enough, I'd rebuild it, but I'm headed back to Australia shortly.

Since I'm in the market for a new (or newish) 6G72, I'm wondering where (and for how much) you got this Japanese domestic market engine.

After many misadventures, the engine arrived today - 3000GTI. I expect cost to be about $3K installed. Of course everything bolted to it has to be exchanged. Mechanic says it's a beauty (from the outside). I'll have a look tomorrow.

The engine swap goes apace. Richard reports that the warehouse has about six left they didn't know they had. My "new" engine was last run in '94. Good prices apparently. They can be shipped nationwide. You can call Richard at 208 230-3393 for info.

"New" engine works well except for the high idle - about 1700RPM with occasional drops to about normal for split seconds. I didn't have time for Richard to sort it out. Yesterday I drove Bellevue - Ferndale - Bellevue, 203 miles at 21.4MPG (3000-3700RPM or 60-75MPH)- best ever. Raider is headed for SE Portland where it will reside with a friend until I return to the USA - I hope next year for good.

I'm in the process of moving back to the USA. My Raider is currently residing in SE Portland with a friend. I expect to live in Oregon or Washington.

I'm looking forward to putting my "new" engine to good use.
