got my truck back today and what a difference! a lot more power and runs super quite. next up is the valve gaskets and crank plug. Fantastic! I'm glad to hear it ended up well.

there is still a TON to do with this thing but i hope it will be worth it in the long run. i love the feel and look of the truck but an vehicle with 274,000 miles on it is going to need some work. the suspension is really a big issue when ever i drive it i feel like all four wheels are going to fall off.
1990 5sp lwb 274,000 miles 80,000 on new motor

Did your shop replace the idler arm? If not, replace it ASAP. Its so easy even I could do it. I got it on rockauto for about $30. Its well worth it. Mine was a different truck afterward!
