After installing an LSD in the front of my montero i thought i was done. The truck went through anything. But we all know how limited the ifs is. Id been thinking about it for a while now. I scored on a waggy d44 with manual hubs and heavy duty steering links with heim joints. I will go with leaf springs over. This will be slow as i have 2 small children and an ill wife, but when i get to it i will post many pictures in case some are interested. Oh and i also have a chevy pass side flat top knuckle that i scored a few weeks ago so looks like ill go hihg steer as well

You've got my attention. Looks like you've got a good game plan, too.

I tore down my waggy d44 tot he bare housing today. Time to order new seals, bearings and ball joints. Will post pics soon when i can. I pulled the trigger after a lot of reading and bought a trac lock LSD carrier from an Isuzu Amigo rear d44 and it fits like a glove! The unit seemed very tight before i pulled it at the yard. Im keeping this low budget so ill think about a better traction aid in the future if necessary.

So i will be going leaf spring set up. I have never done a sas before, this is actually my first ever build. Any tips on leaf set up to get some good flex?

Isn't the width going to be crazy different?

No, i forgot exact wms to wms but the wagoneer dana 44 is not wide track. It will be extremely close to the SR rear. Any difference can be made up for with spacers.

I have 4.875's for my sr rear already, so i will be ordering 4.88's for the front

Another question:
The SR rear i got was from a 1996. But stupid me didnt check what engine was on the donor. There was 3.0 and 3.5 available that year. So ive heard if 3.5 i have a 9.5 inch ring gear and if 3.0 i have a 9 inch gear. So i dont know what ring gear i have. My 4.875 ring gear is 9 inch, and ive read a couple of times that it and the pinion will fit where the 9.5 inch gears fit. So is there a way to know which size is in my diff before busting it open? Thanks in advance!!

my Raiders front diff is completely worn out and I don't feel like rebuilding it. So I am looking into chopping my IFS off and going solid axle. Ive talked to Toasty about this a bit, and figure the cheapest route would be a Waggy axle leaf springs, and then eventually get more complicated suspension down the road. I just need to find the right axle before I start with my cutting torch
