So i bought a new idler arm for my 95 SR, it has a zerk fitting in the upper 'bushing' portion but none around the ball joint and there doesnt appear to be any grease in the ball joint.

Can I just carefully drill through the back of ball joint and add a zerk fitting there? or should i go through the side like on the pitman arm?

I just looked at my new one, sitting on the dining room table, and noticed the same thing. No, I was not sitting on the table, the idler arm was.

As far as I remember, the only zerk I've seen on those has been on the body itself. I guess you could add one to the ball joint portion, but they usually wear out in the shaft part anyway.

Did you get a part with a "lifetime warranty"? If so, just replace it every year or so like I do.
