Getting the Wheeling Fever
Since I started my new job 4 mos ago I have logged on an average of 350 miles per week on my monty. I'm at 186,500 and counting.
Besides burning some oil like I mentioned in a previous post, I have kept up on the routine stuff, she wears new belts, plugs, wires, fuel pump. I want to change out the manual gearbox oil soon, as I don't know its age.
When I bought this monty back in June I did not anticipate driving her as much as I do. 6,500 miles later I still love every time I start her up and go. Shes not fast so I have no desire to race anybody like I used to feel when I had my mustangs. She gets looks, but I think they are more of "what the heck is that" then actual admiration. She probably isn't worth much, I don't see them selling for much, I paid 2k for it from a mechanic at a local import shop and he showed me pics of the motor out and said its been rebuilt.
I would love to put some updated rims on her, perhaps build up her stance a bit. But that's it cosmetically, well, maybe tint. Front brakes are next.
Can you tell I'm in love here ? Not the prettiest girl on the block, but hasn't let me down yet.

Tint will really help for summer time. The gear lube is really easy to do, just pay attention to what is called for as far as specifications. Don't get all fancy with the front brake pads. An OE spec is fine. For wheels, steelies from 4wheelparts.com look and work fine and they're cheap.

To really get looks, remove all badges and no one will know what it is.

too true. after the recent paint job, someone said "that's cool - I've never seen a landcruiser painted like that.". his friend said, "that's because its a range rover dumb !".

keep 'em guessing.
