LEDs and CFLs don't work worth a <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> for outside lighting or keeping a propane regulator warm at this latitude. I've got two paper boxes full of bulbs right now.

THANKS DUBYA. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

You also have to deal with Hg and they're finding out CFLs can induce headaches or aggravate migraines.

Gotta love unintended consequences. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

That was one of those political trades Dubya engaged in to get Dem support. I remember a brief flurry of comments about the mercury factor. That soon died with the overarching argument about "better" for the environment as it used less carbon-based energy to achieve the same amount of light.

I have begun replacing the flourecent lights in my motorhome with the LEDs (12 volt system). I do like them in that situation. And, I have used the LEDs as accent lighting in a kitchen remodel. Work great.

The CFLs are a complete different story. What a poor designed piece of crap. I had the base of one come loose just screwing it into the socket.

It is change. Not sure if it is progress...
