Nick came over on sunday and we tubed up the front of his Yota pickup, WrenchWench made a cameo, helped out and said funny things.

The results...

We're going to ad a bit more bent tube on the fender sides, over the valance and across the front of the core support.

No offense, but that looks like a good waste of tubing! That is one ugly truck. Looks worse then the one Top Gear blew up!

Yoters are supposed to look all ugly like that, mine's not much different. I think they came from the factory all wrinkled up like that.

What do you use for a tubing notcher? Just grind it out with the grinder? Got a fancy little pipe saddling jig and plasma it? Or just wing it? I always have issues with that part.

I'm using a pro tools notcher, If you don't have a notcher the next best thing is cutting opposing angles on your chop saw to notch your tube.

Here's a formula for figuring out your angles for your cuts Chop saw notching 101

Today i tubed the front section of my pickup, from here i'll tube from the upper front corners to the roll cage and from the lower front corners down to my rock sliders. These will be my outer fenders, i'll tie the upper and lower fender tubes together with some short notched sections of tube. I'll use some 1/16" sheet metal to skin the fenders, this will keep some of the stuff slinging off the front tires from hitting me in the face so much.

The work i did this morning i notched by hand, i put the bent tube (cut to size) in place then put my marker on the mating radius and traced it onto my piece. Cut the line with a 4.5" cutoff disc for a near perfect fit.

I know magazines and do it yourself TV shows make it seem like any fool can whip up some fab like that given a 1/2hr and 200K in tools....But truly that kind of work takes real talent

I realized that lately AzCrew stuff hasn't been as picture heavy as we used to be. Here's an update of what i've been doing.

I've got the cage mostly in, need to tie it into the front cage and the frame next then finish the fenders. From there it's new seats, seatbelts, lights and turn signals then i can go make it legal just in time for wheeling season!
