Tried searching and couldn't find anything. Has anyone ever seen or have a picture of a gen1 with rear climate control? I've read about it from time to time and even seen some vague diagrams in manuals but never actually seen one. Did they have two a/c compressors?

PM me and include an off board email. I have some pics of 'outside the US' models that you may like.

I have seen reference in the 91 shop manual, but not the 89. Dunno 'bout the 90, and the 91 manual is not great. The 91 had rear air, but no rear heat. There was in the 91 and most all other dual air setups only one compressor, with lines branching to the two evaporators and with only one condesor. I think the 91 had a electro solenoid valve to control refrigerant flow to the rear evaporator.

Rear air on a GEN1.???? ... New one on me.. Will have to keep an eye out for one .. Was allways wondering if a LWB condesor is bigger then a SWB condesor and if a swap in to a SWB would give a SWB more A/C cooling..?.. Now rear A/C in a SWB would be great for us southwest guys.. LOL..

They both use the same evaporator and I belive the condensers are the same as well. I still have not been able to find a pic of rear climate control. I'm guessing it was never avilable in the US and was still pretty rare overseas.

I don't think any came to the US. No one here has seen one afik. The Gen IIs had them overseas as well. Gen III here finally has them of course.

Don't know how they piped the air ducts on earlier ones. Then Gen III has a lot of it designed into the floors, ceiling, and sides. TO retro one into a vehicle that didn't have could be a sizeable task fittings the ducting.
