Body Damage is Cool
Lost the winter storage spot for my '88 which was essentially an old warehouse about 10 miles from my house. The guy running the warehouse was having some sub-letters run body shops in the space (2 different) as well as a stucco shop and the city authorities we not too happy with that. No proper spray booths etc. Found out he didn't have an occupancy permit for those types of activities. So rather than chance a multi-month unknown release lock-in, I drug the '88 back to my storage locker 45 miles in the other direction. Was uneventful, although I don't think I'd want to do this again with the '93. That 3.0l is pretty light on pulling power.

I like the light blue, one of the colors I haven't had. Gen II looks portly in front of a Gen I 2-door.

Definitely looks huge compared to the SWB.

My first Montero was a light blue turbo charged 2.6L, 1988 that looked similar with the light blue paint. It's was got me started on my SWB Montero obsession.

The previous owner put in a turbo and a bunch of other performance stuff I didn't understand. It leaked oil badly, I went to get that fixed, rear main seal at a reputable shop. They said they wouldn't touch it.

I went to do a tuneup with new spark plugs and cables. It was so heavily modified, I couldn't get that done either. Decided to sell it. However I was so intrigued by the vehicle I decided to replace it with a stock 1988 SWB 2.6L. I'm now on my 5th Montero and in the process of overhauling my 3.0L.

I should get it back later this week. I'll wrap up the rebuild over the weekend and get all the other fluids changed out.
