Any recommendations on an engine builder? Jumped time and was in need of some repair anyhow. Thanks!

Welcome back, i recommend finding a low milage used engine (under 60k miles) and swapping that in with a new timing belt I bought one with 44k miles and i'm coming up on a belt now. just a thought.

Hey toasty! Where is the mistu honey hole these days? I found a few here and there, pull a part, etc., but any inside info? I'm worried about getting a junk motor from a yard. JDM is kinda pricey. Ive found a few "engine houses" online, but all a little high priced. A solid rebuild on mine and it will be good for another 200k!

The hot spot for Mitsubishi parts appears to be up north. Contact Haztoys on here to see if he can help steer you to a junk yard up around Prescott. I trailered a 2.4 and a four speed automatic transmission out of his place a couple of years back and the entire experience was painless. Great guy to deal with and he'll do his best to find you what you're looking for.

I got my motor from central foreign auto parts, i talked to their sales guy and asked him to find me a sub 50k engine from a truck that was not front ended or rolled. He came back with one 44k miles that was sideswiped from an '04. I think by the time i got it here it was somewhere around 1300-1400 for the complete engine and it was in perfect condition, also their parts are warehoused so there was no sun damaged anything on my motor.
It did however take me weeks of looking and going to yards and inspecting engines, I rejected probably 6 good low milage engines holding out for the right one. Get on car-part.com and do a search and see what you find locally.

I thought that might had been you i saw tow strapping your truck home. Any idea what kind of damage your block actually took on. Sometimes you can get lucky and the block may be ok. Might just need to replace the heads and anyother items neccassary. If your feeling motivated enough i have a spare 3.5 sohc motor that would fit nicely in there. Has about 180k miles on it and needs a little touching up to be right but its there. Let me know if your interested and we can work something out.

PA_JERO- what kind of motivation? I really don't have weeks to search for an engine. Tomorrow its coming out and I'll take off the heads. I will know exactly which way I need to go.
PS. can't believe I got spotted on "the Strap". Its usually reserved for jeeps.

Yeah, caught with a strap on is pretty shameful. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> as for motivation i couldnt completely tell alot of the tech. But its supposedly a pretty direct swap with just using your 3.0 intake plenum on the 3.5. The motor i have needs valve stem seals, timing belt/tensioner, water pump, and probably all the top end gaskets/seals minus head gaskets. Its some work but otherwise a solid motor. And a decent power gain. I dont beleive there is any fab work neccessary to make it go. Im 5 min away if you want to look and compare. I'll pm my number over to you.
