Sealing Oil Pan #1069620 02/28/14 03:30 AM

After finding the water pump leaking, I noticed the oil pan is dripping as well.

Going to pull the pan and seal but a couple of questions first:

Does the front diff have to dropped to get pan out?

Is there a gasket for the pan? I don't see one in the ASA and the FSM just shows a sealant.

Can some one explain the image on page 11B-22 (pg 163) on the 92/95 Engine\Chassisbody. I think it shows how to lay down the sealant but don't really understand what it is implying

Thanks,

~ Jon

I spent some time last night under the motor while idling. I'm now not convinced the pan is leaking.

It looks like the leak is coming from farther up the engine on the driver side. Pretty sure the drips on the lower oil pan are from the leak further up.

Will spend some more time diagnosing this weekend.

Thanks,
~ Jon

The biggest leakers on my '94 LS 3.0 12v were the oil cooler hoses. The fittings at the engine would cause oil to run down and drip from the oil pan area.
