1990 4 door and my ball joints are crap. i have replaced ball joints in my old isuzu rodeo, but they were not press in? would i be better off just having the shop do them?
1990 5sp lwb 274,000 miles 80,000 on new motor

The advantage of having a shop press in new balljoints is that they have the proper tooling for the installation, and measurement devices to tell you that you may need a new control arm. Other than those reasons, if you have the tools, go for it.

My Ford Ranger lowers are press fit. I borrowed a free loner press kit (generic) from Advance Auto to press out and press in.
I did have to use my impact gun though, if you don't have one of those it may be impossible.

I did have to use my impact gun though, if you don't have one of those it may be impossible. ha ha oddly enough i bought a huge impact gun to work on my land cruiser full of midwest rust but i always worked on truck in my parents big warm garage with my dad big air compressor. the problem is all that is back in Michigan and I'm here in Washington with only an impact gun but nothing to make it go.
