Yes I still have the 1990 (running good as usual), BUT the 1995 Sr has been a pain in the a@@! When first started the truck runs great- Great power and pep. If never turned off truck can run whole tank of gas out with no issues. IF and when shut down hot and left to what I call heat soak for 15-30 min truck will start by spitting and sputtering to life and will then smooth out. After smoothed out truck will drive , but will have no power whatsoever. If let to set for an hour or so to cool off truck runs great again. I have sealed the IAC-GONE, EGR -Gone, Replaced the Mass air, The TPS, Power control unit, Couple of the temp sensors. I am stumped. I do have a used computer still, I do have bad oil leak on front of engine so I am thinking of pulling it apart to replace crank and cam sensors (Is it possible thay are going out partially when hot?)Something is losing resistance when hot. I am ready to dump this great truck!!! I don't know what to do- frustrated and don't know what to do.

The best method is to find out which doohickey doesn't like to heat soak. You need some method of systematic "testing" by spot cooling. In the olden days before the ozone hole, I'd take a refill can of r12 and go around spraying doohickeys, one at a time, with a start try after each. I've since used r134 refills, a garden sprayer with ice water (real good with a fine stream for getting at hard stuff), canned dusting air (takes too much), Liquids or refrigerants are the best options.

What sucks is I have replaced ALL the coils, Plugs, Wires, Power unit, Mass Air, TPS, and All the little sensors but one (I forgot about it). And it still does it - Only after driven/ Stop and go for a couple hours- But when it does it- it will start rough - tap gas a few times and engine smooths to basic idle- But if try to go it acts like it has no power-and literally feels like it is all it can do to get going. I AM READY to GET RID OF IT! What sucks is it runs so nice at all other times. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Okay now it doesn't matter if hot or cold. It just happens at random- Run good-ish and or horrible. If I floor it the RPMS go up but has no power and will sort of do something like a muffled backfire that feels like is stopped by the CAT. I am at a loss. I have swithed all relays and sensors with used or new except the Crank, Cam and O2 sensors. Is it possible that its something Like fuel pressure? Or main computer? maybe plugged CAT?

fwiw this may or may not help. had a dodge once that did everything you are describing. sometimes letting it sit helped, other times no dice. turned out the cat was blocked up. i remember pieces of honeycomb on the driveway. changed it and problem solved.

It sounds like you're just throwing parts at it rather than diagnosing the problem, which isn't really an efficient way to repair a vehicle. Test your fuel pressure and see if it's at factory spec (Fasteddy just wrote a post on how to build a fuel pressure tester). Your converter can be tested by measuring the temps at the inlet and outlet - a properly functioning converter will have hotter outlet temps than the inlet. If you can weld, you could also weld small tubes into the the exhaust pipe before and after the converter and use a pressure gauge to compare the pressures - a significantly higher pressure before the cat meas it's probably clogged.
Whatever you do, don't replace any more parts without diagnosing beforehand - they're costing you time and money and you're not fixing the problem.

This is true on the wasting time part. I am thinking fuel pressure may be issue- last night I ripped the exhaust apart only to find a WIDE open empt CAT... I broke 3 bolts in process LOL. Do you have link on how to build Fuel pressure tester? I do have a new fuel filter I bought a few months ago and I will put that on later this week. I am not a Mechanic LOL, I m really good at figuring stuff out, but when it comes down to electrical stuff and or diagnosing this type I am stumped.

I feel your pain - electrical diagnostic isn't my strength either. The benefit to slogging through the FSM and figuring out what exactly you need to test is that you learn a lot in the process which makes you better at it the next time around. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...&an=0&page=2#Post1292060 - Fasteddy's thread on how to put together a fuel pressure tester.
