About to go with my neighbor Jorge (HoseB's brother) to pick up an 86 Montero with a spare engine and transmission, and we have no use for the transmission. Just seeing if anyone can use it for a small price, local pick-up, before we offer it up to the rest of the board or just scrap it.
The 86 Jorge is buying is in pretty decent shape, body-wise, with some rooftop denting from kids playing on it, otherwise it's straight. It's been sitting for 6 years and the engine that's in it will be coming out so we can swap in the other 2.6 that's complete, maybe grafting the best of both engines. The seller is also throwing in a complete timing/balance chain set and four steel wheels that I think I'll keep to put some highway tread 31's on for my 95 for everyday use.
Oh, and my phone died last week, so this is probably the best way to get a hold of me until I get it fixed.
More details after we get this hot mess towed back to my house.

This truck cleaned up great! It's the most base-level Montero I've seen yet, though, as it has no center gauge cluster and no trim on the walls (it's painted metal) and no carpet over the wheel wells. We used a ton of Dawn dishwashing detergent in the wash water since it hadn't been cleaned in over 6 years, a couple of cans of Scrubbing Bubbles cleaned the initial grease and dirt off the mechanicals under the hood and on the spare engine and transmission.
Jorge (Whor-Hey) simply punched the dents out of the roof, at least the big one. We put air in the tires and after cleaning it all up and putting it in its rightful place in the driveway, it seems right at home. Guess we'll have to start making the parts lists and getting things on order.
Looks like the wheel studs are liking to snap off. They'll all likely need replacing, along with the lug nuts. The hazard switch was in small pieces on the floor and will need to be replaced. And we're going to need a complete engine gasket set and the turbo head gasket. I think the plan is to mate the good engines short block with the top end (and sensors/carb, etc)of the original engine. Shouldn't be too bad...

Any idea of the condition of the KM-145? I might be interested for my "someday" project! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

I have no way of telling anything about the condition of the internals of the transmission, M3, all I can tell you is that the shifter works just fine and every gear engages.
