so my procomp shock (3000's)front bushings failed on both shocks after maybe 20k miles. shock moved so much that my steering would hit them for a split second on slow tight turns. I read most of the posts here and while I really wanted to try the tokico shocks, I could not find all 4 anywhere, so I went with KYB gas-a-justs. I only have the front on right now, but what a difference. while the ride seems a little more ridged, bumps and dips are way less noticeable. so right now I'm running kyb in front and procomp in the back. I have the kyb for the back, just haven't had time to put them in yet. Once I get the rears in, I'll update this thread with what my thought are on them.

I have run KYB shocks on all mine. I like them a lot. Our terrain isn't all that crazy though.

I'm a fan of the KYB's too. Those front ones aren't fun to put on, are they?

everyone here recommended the KYBs. glad i was smart enough to listen. i just beat the living crap out of mine on a long trip thru mexico, az, ut, nv, and ca. i mean some of it was so rough for sooo long that the roof rack tore free and the mounts needed beaten back into shape with a dead blow. (thanks for the BFH johnnyb).
4000 miles (1000+ offroad) later a friend gets in the rig and says "man, i like the suspension, this thing rides great! did you just put in new?" yeah, kybs are the shizzle.

I like my KYBs, but my old Bilsteins were so nice until the rust ate them away.

They are a blast to put in 2nd one was easier than the first until I cut the string holding it compressed and realized I had yet to put on the bottom bushing first.

Hi guys, Hey I just put on my KYB's on my 1997 Montero. I'm about to take a 500 mile trip to eastern Washington state tomorrow. I have a really good opportunity to compare before and after because I took the exact same trip last Friday on those old shocks.
I'll reply to this post over the weekend with my results.

I installed those on a Fiat back in the dark ages. Back then, there was a pair of leather two hole gizmos on the top stud and the bottom eye that allowed a slow release of compression so you could fiddle the lower into place.
They are great shocks in most any application.

I have been running KYB gas a just for 10 years or so now. They are great. The Old Man Emu shocks are nice too but twice as expensive as the KYB which perform the same.
KYBs are also factory on my Subaru Outback. A few months ago I replaced all 4 struts with KYB gas a just.
I like KYB shocks.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.
