So I've gotta rant somewhere and this isn't something to discuss with the wife. This is the one time i'm glad she isn't into the Montero thing.
Anyway, this afternoon I was working on the front end of the rig. Pittman arm & torsion bars upgrades - finally! I had just finished texting a friend "thanks" for answering some stupid questions about the job and had crawled underneath to double check i hadn't missed something. All of the sudden the rig is moving sideways and the jackstands are falling over - all in slow motion.
The whole rig crashes down on top of me. Boosh! I was pinned and the back end "lever" of a tbar is thru my shirt and scraped against my side. I couldn't move and couldn't reach my shirt pocket for my phone. I was completely pinned and without any front suspension the entire weight of the rig sitting on my chest. After what seemed like hours (actually about 10 minutes) a neighbor showed up at his shop, saw the fun and jacked the rig off me.
We're still not sure what happened other than the Prius that was parked there all day was missing. All we can figure is that the jack backed out of his space and into my front wheel knocking the rig over. And then took off. I didn't hear a car so the Pius is the most logical explanation - Ockham's razor at it's finest. and we checked - no earthquakes today.
And of course the property manager says the security cameras were off and only work at night. (Oh yeah, his friend owns the prius). The mgr is a good guy and i doubt he knows what happened, but i doubt even more he'd rat out a buddy.
Not sure what I'll do when i see that Prius tomorrow. Im not that angry (which is really strange for me given the circumstances), just annoyed and mostly relieved that I am still around. Had I been a few inches further back i would've been skewered by the back end of the torsion bar instead of just getting a nasty scrape.
I'm sure there is a moral here somewhere other than some people suck.
Anyway, that was my day. I hope yours was better.

Sheesh, I'm glad you're ok! Sucks that there's likely not much you can really do about it either.

Holly crap Mongo. That sounds terrifying. I'm glad your okay.
The Prius backed out and bumped your front wheel? I'm assuming you didn't remove the wheel?

Wow glad you're ok.
One more reason I hate prius drivers I think you need to take a test before you buy one to make sure you're a self absorbed jackass

Holy crap Dan, that could have been a really bad situation. I'm glad you're not hurt.
I'd be looking for any unusual marks on the back bumper of that Prius, and having a little discussion with the driver if I found anything.

I know you've said you are large, but I can crawl around under a monty with lots of clearance. I'm built like a whippet (well, I was before I got a tad fatter around the middle), but I've only felt fear when up on a creeper and 3" higher. Glad the wheels were on.
I would dream about serious damage to the Prius, done by hands unknown. 4 flat tires sounds nice, as does some noxious substance stuffed into the front heater air intake, like limberger cheese and sardines. I would also hope the security cams missed this due to daylight .
Glad the damage was minor. I had a c10 cheby pickup roll over my chest with the front wheels when I removed the driveshaft and only had it in park. Dumb, huh? I thought so, and now own a set of those nifty folding wheel chocks...

yeah, i'm on the large side... and without and tension on the tbars it got real cozy, real quick. if i were built like jbfp i could've wriggled out easily.
i saw the prius today. the owner was nowhere to be seen. I even sat on the hood waiting, but he didnt come out. in the end it has 4 flat tires. I didnt do any damage, I did remove the valves from the stems and left them in an envelope under a wiper along with the tool to put them back in. AAA just left since he didn't accept the offer to use my compressor. it was probably an immature thing to do, but at least i didnt drop a car on him.
jay- the wheel was back on since i was getting ready to drop it and tension the bars.
after all the drama, the new pittman arm didnt have the mating marks so i made my best guess. i was off. the rig turns sharply to the right and not so sharply to the left. so im headed out to do it again and adjust by a spline. this time i am surrounding the rig with caution tape.
