Body Damage is Cool
The 92 died today about 200 miles from home. Middle of nowhere. Seams like no spark. Crusing fully loaded (hunting gear, rtt, fridge, 2 dogs and my buddy) on the interstate. Heading out for a 5 day trip to North Dakota. No mechanics, no easy access to parts, no internet... Anybody pull a car dolly with a gen 3 loaded with a gen 2 a couple hundred miles or more? Wife drove out and picked us and a bunch of our gear. She's not a happy camper. Need to come up with a plan to get the gen 2 home.

Forget this idea. Wife thought it was a bad plan. Hired a guy with a flatbed to go grab it and bring it home.

Probably the best idea. You'd have to drop the driveshaft on the towed truck, and find some way to keep it from falling out, and tow dollies are iffy on the highway. Most don't have front tire straps long enough to go reliably around the bigger tires, and a sudden stop can make the towed jump over the front of the dolly into the rear of the towing one...

Not responsible for advice not taken...

$600 in tow bill later the truck is home. $125 to get it off the interstate on Friday, $475 to flatbed it 225 miles back to Milwaukee. Now the fun begins. Ordered: Power Transistor, Distributor, ECU (ebay) and will send the one that is currently in the truck to http://www.avproecm.com/ on Monday.

Even in a M/T vehicle? Thought that transfercase in neutral and transmission in neutral, manual hubs unlocked - it would be fine to flat tow without driveshaft removal. I've done it this way on my gen 1 with a tow bar. (I don't have a tow bar mount rigged up for the Gen 2 ... yet...)

Editing the order. So nice (???) to be home with clear head, own tools. 10 minutes later - correct diagnosis. Timing belt is shredded.
