So I've read through the write up and a few other posts and have a few questions still. It might be because I don't own the axle just yet (for once trying to acquire parts slowly as they show up cheap to save money)
1) I found m/s in a u/pull with literally brand new calipers, pads, rotors (like no rust even). This was off a coil sprung model. Will they still fit a leaf model?
2) What else do I need? Should I want to order all new seals? Bearing? Or are these things a "don't fix what isn't broken" (bearings are like $100 so hopefully so)
3) What is up with the drive shaft yoke deal? All I saw mentioned was custom driveshafts or no mention at all. So can I just swap my gen1 yolk over to the m/s axle?
4) 9 inch vs 9.5? So I found a 4.90 r/p out of a coil m/s and want to put this in the leaf one. Is one 9 and the 9.5 or both the same. Even if they are different, I read so where the r/p are still the same?
Thank you gentlemen!

Torch off the coil spring mounts, weld on leaf spring mounts, etc...
All I have for you on this.

All cutting is done with a hack saw by hand. No torch. Don't know how to weld.
Everything I do is done on the streets of nyc, hence it's always a bolt on job. (Also why I went with a starquest turbo swap, not Chevy 4.3) Otherwise I'd just grab the whole coil sprung 4.90 axle and weld in, along with a s as to boot, Unfortunatly it needs to be a leaf sprung design to bolt in, which doesn't come in 4.90 flavor (I have 4.875s currently, hence it's close enough) so Will make a hybrid axle of the two and might as well get one with an air locker. Will build it in my storage unit and install come spring.

1) I found m/s in a u/pull with literally brand new calipers, pads, rotors (like no rust even). This was off a coil sprung model. Will they still fit a leaf model? Definitely not a bolt-on..
2) What else do I need? Should I want to order all new seals? Bearing? Or are these things a "don't fix what isn't broken" (bearings are like $100 so hopefully so) If'n it's not broke, leave it alone.
3) What is up with the drive shaft yoke deal? All I saw mentioned was custom driveshafts or no mention at all. So can I just swap my gen1 yolk over to the m/s axle? On mine the u-joint was bigger than my Gen 1. A driveshaft shop put the Sport piece on the back of my Gen 1 shaft, which gave me the big later u-joint on the rear, and the little one on the front.
4) 9 inch vs 9.5? So I found a 4.90 r/p out of a coil m/s and want to put this in the leaf one. Is one 9 and the 9.5 or both the same. Even if they are different, I read so where the r/p are still the same? Sorry, I'm no help here.
Thank you gentlemen!

1) So if I get a drum axle then yes, it's a no go. But according to rock auto all the brake parts for a coil and leaf model are the same as long as both are disk brake. So I'm hoping this works.
2) Good call, thanks. Won't look for problems where there are none.
3) I was hoping to avoid any shops to keep costs down. Oh well. So I'll need to grab a m/s drive shaft as well then. I should have done it when I was at the u pull getting the 4.90 where it would be cheaper. Oh well, didn't know.
4) Worst case i will use 4.636 and put the 4.625 back up front. I hope not as the 4.875s are so fun around town especially with my short throw shifter.
Thank you for your time everyone so far.

Also, here's big ole number five!
5) I read that the factory gen1 rims won't fit as the hub bore is to small. True? And if so what rims do you recommend?

1) and 2) seam a go
5) seams a go. I'll get some measurements regardless this weekend. Thanks both of you.
4) EDIT so after a bunch of reading, I can't find "I personally did this and it works" but I do see plenty of writing saying it's been done. So a go.

4) the 4.90/4.636 interchange still worries me. You can't run it like that in 4WD
3) just called a friend. So there's only one reputable driveline shop in nyc and they charged him $300 to shorten a drive shaft an inch. That is not an option then. Hell, send it down here, I'll go get it done. That's ridiculous.
Landraider wrote that redrilling the flange would work. I'll do that if I must.
But, I see gen2, m/s,and gen1 v6 all use the same u joint. Its just the 2.6 with a different setup. Soooo if all gen1 have a km100 transfer case, cant I use an 89 drive shaft or is it a different length?
