I just found a steal of a deal on a motor and another steal on a 95 LS. Very nice body and interior, blown motor. Is the 3.0l out of a 2001 Limited compatible with the 95 transmission providing I get the proper ECU?

Dwight The 2001 Montero should have a 3.5 SOHC engine as used in 97-02 models. If you are referring to a 3.0 Sport then I believe the OBD2 setup would require you to use some of the sensors from the 95, otherwise I would imagine the bell housing is the same. Did you ask Google yet??

Edit: Sorry. I basically just repeated everything Jeep2Montero said.
Gen III's have a 3.5 or a 3.8 from 2003 to 2006. Gen III's are also drive by wire throttle. No throttle cable.
Don't know if that matters or not.
I would think all of the sensors we need to be swapped and possibly intake manifolds/ exhaust manifolds/ EGR system from the Gen II truck to the Gen III engine.
If you are talking about a 2001 Montero Sport Limited, I believe they still used the 6G72.

Thanks guys. The gentleman listed the wrong motor size and this was before I knew it was actually a 3.5l 6g74. I'm still pretty new to Mitsu's bet I'm getting a crash coarse. I have almost 30 hours of research into the 6g75 in the last 3 days. One thing I have is a [censored] ton of determination. I'm going to move forward with a swap since I have a knock and the power from the 6g74 is a bit lack luster. Thanks again.
