Destroyed the brake rotors getting those off , so I did the brake rotors and pads too (rotors had never been done in 140k miles neither had the bearings). I still don't know if the bearings needed changing, but the front wheels had a lot of play. Not sure if I got the wheel bearing nut on the right tightness. The manual described using tools to measure preload and run out, I screw that. What procedure do you guys use to get the right tightness? 2002 Sportage 4dr 4x4 soon to undergo an Extreme Makeover! Turned out it was the rear universal joint but it stopped when I greased the zert. Sigh.
