Well gang, after a very successful birthday offroading trip to Xmas tree lake in the White Mountains, My 91 3.0L has begun spewing forth amounts of oil.

It's sitting in my driveway on ramps, and I can't figure out where it's leaking from, but I'm certainly no expert.

I took some pics but Flickr is not complying. If anyone has time to drop by and look at it, I'd gladly feed them, donate gas funds, or compensate in some way. I'm not afraid of the work, but I'm such a novice I don't know where to begin.

I did check the filter and the filler plug, which are both secure. It kinda looks like the leak is somewhere under and behind the alternator? I removed the skid plates and put down some cardboard, but the cardboard doesn't show anything since most of the oil already leaked out. I added another quart to see if it would drip out again, but so far it hasn't.

If I can't get it handled in the next few weeks I'll have to tow it somewhere and get it looked at, but I'd like to avoid the cost due to imminent cross country drive since we're moving to Michigan this summer.

Argh!

Yeah I was born there, I'm not excited about going back. But, my wife got a great position with GM, and she needs U.S.A.experience for her resume. We plan to get back to AZ within 24 months. I'll try to get some pics up, but it just looks like oily parts. I put the car up on ramps and cardboard underneath, but it's not dripping while it sits.

Johnny B offered to come by, but it's so far for him, I wouldn't want to inconvenience him like that.

I'm in Phoenix, not Peoria. I'm "from" Peoria, IL. Still, I had no idea you live in San Tan freaking Valley. Offer rescinded due to the fact that Pa_Jero and Canyoneer both live right there and they should be the gentlemen I respectfully refer to them as and take a look at it.

I'll bet it's either power steering-related or camshaft seal-related. Get a can of Scrubbing Bubbles from Walmart and spray it on the suspected area (with the engine cold), then hose it off. You'll be able to see the leak far more clearly then. Greazy engine bays are not fun to work in.

I don't have a great deal of experience with the 3.0 with the exception of staring at one on PA JERO's garage floor, but can take a look at it if you like. Let me know where you're at in STV and either PAJ or myself can lend a set of eyes.

I peek in from time to time. I don't post much because all you guys are wheeling and having fun while I daily my oil guzzling POS 112 miles round trip for work every day. Depressing. Can't afford to break my truck on the trail right now so I've kind of been sidelined for a bit until I find something else to drive. Then, stay tuned.... I have. a plan.

Your plan should include 31" tires. That way you aren't grinding those expensive 35's against the pavement on your daily drive. Need some basic wheels? Gotcha covered.

And there's beer here.
