Any of you guys ever replace the compressor clutch on your AC? Mine seems to have died this morning. I can only find the full compressor online, not just the clutch.

Yeah, bought one from auto zone and it lasted a day or two before it grenaded and broke part of the snout of the compressor where the snap ring groove is. Warrantied that clutch and installed the new one, when the old one broke it spun on the outer shaft and marred it up real bad so i repaired it with some fiberglass and resin and installed the new clutch. I figured the compressor is trashed now so might as well try something. Put the snap ring on what was left of the groove and it worked fine for a four years, i think Kevin is just now having a problem with it. Either way just go get a real Denso clutch from the junkyard.

Thanks Toasty. Dang, and I was just at the junkyard last weekend too for unrelated items. Seems like all I've been doing is repairing my truck each weekend. Ah the joys of owning a 20 year old truck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Well, turns out the clutch, the compressor, and the expansion valve were all junk. That wasn't fun, or cheap.

If the compressor went south and spilled its guts, I sure hope you replaced the condenser, since it really shouldn't be flushed on a modern system (older ones, like on Gen 1's can be successfully flushed since they are single-path tube and fin instead of newer ones that have tiny passages and are multi-reverse flow). The receiver/drier should have also been replaced.

Just sayin'. Hope things are going well for you, Jay. Long time, no see. Hopefully I'll be back on the trails again soon, too.
