Need a Spot
Hello all, new Montero owner & new member.
I bought a 94 montero 6G72 SOHC with very low oil pressure
Thinking rebuild but after engine was removed and inspected
I have decided on a JDM long block. Here's the education question, after searching online for a week I can find plenty of 6G72's SOHC, but all have 6? coils mounted where mine has a distributor other than that the engines look the same. Can someone tell me what changed other than the heads and more importantly can I use one of these: Mitsubishi Pajero Mighty Max Montero Shogun JDM 6G72 SOHC V6 3.0L 24 Valve Engine Second Generation
and what changes will this swap involve?
thank you for your time, harry.

In theory yes. Haven't heard of that change over yet, at least I don't recollect one, but using the early heads should set you up.

My understanding is that the 24V is not a bolt in conversion. Completely different electrics. Most of the bolt-ons are different as well. It has been done. Starting with a front clip may be the way to go.

Technically, most of those suppliers do no warranty accessories if they are there. They are selling you the longblock. If you had a chance to get every piece on it, and then all the wiring and ECU, it would be very easy to do. The basic engine will be a bolt in.

Double check the oil pressure. These gauges are notoriously unreliable.
