Need a Spot
First off, I have searched this forum for everything that I have done to my trail rig so far. I could not put a value on the information that you guys have. I need to lean on you again though. I have a set of 5.29 gears sitting in my shop AND have someone to install them AND show me how to do it at the same time. I want to replace the parts and pieces that I can while I have thing apart. Can anyone tell me about bearings, seals, races, inner/outer, u-joints, etc....? I need to know what and how many of what. This will be my first time to attempt this sort of thing. Just surfing this forum and other places on the interweb, I see that I don't even speak the same language. Any help is appreciated. Speak slowly and use big crayons for me!

There is a "rule of thumb" when dealing with differentials.

If you are going to have it apart to regular, replace ALL bearing and seals within the differential.

My preference is to also relplace the outer axle seals and bearings.

I would rather start with all new than to rip it apart and replace a leaking seal or bad bearing a few months down the line.

U-joints an be replaced without disturbing the integrity of the axle and differential seals.

Thanks for the input. Sadly, I have 5.29s for the rear, but not the front. I never opened the boxes until I was ready to install. I was able to get my money back.
