Looks like your axle questions may be answered...

As far as longer shocks, I'm not so sure that's a good idea. As soon as you max out travel back there (with swaybar removed, etc), you put a lot of strain on the rear trailing arms, to the point where breakage can occur. Some have swapped to rear gen 2 susp and others have wristed the rear panhard. My feeling is that with a locker back there, assuming you find one, you'll be all set.

I'm not saying its not doable, just saying that longer shocks and deleting the swaybar may not be enough to get you what you want. I used factory length KYB's after I swapped to gen2 coils on my gen1, and had no issues. I do not, however, know the part number for the those shocks. this was "a little while ago".

But let me take a step back first. Try the swaybar removal first, if you haven't already. I took mine off, and the test drive at highway speeds convinced me to put it back on. But to each his own, right?

Cheers

The rear end can be lifted. It's easy enough to swap in gen II trailing arms and they are proven to be reliable and capable of handling the extra stress.

Also the KYB part numbers are most likely in the archives or part number repository thread.

Alternatively KYB support was stellar and willing to help you cross reference the shocks for a longer one.

I found some 3000 series procomps that offer about 3" more in total length. I believe they are 22.5X at full extension, 13.xx at full compression and offer 8.5x" of travel. Best part is I have found them for $35/each with free shipping.

I do plan to swap in the full rear suspension with the axle when I get to it. But the front Aussie locker is coming first.

But before any of that I have to get the new paint job done. I unfortunately just started finishing my basement off, so all of that is going to have to wait until that project is done. Going to be a long summer!!!!!!

Thanks for all of the help guys and I have since figured out how the forum works a little better and found some very helpful threads. Thanks for your patience with a new user.

Happy wheeling to everyone. I will post some pics when I get around to the new paint. I am excited.

A 94 will also work. That is what I have in mine.

So do you have access to a welder and are able to fabricate a little bit? Have the "plans" to increase shock mount spacing which will allow longer shocks to be used. Kind of lo-budget since you are already planning on purchasing shocks.

I have access to a welder and now a few people that could help me fabricate. I'm a little confused by your comment. Are you saying you have done this??

With a body lift installed, you can fit a new upper shock mount. First piece you'll need is a spring retainer to keep the springs from falling out when you start flexing. Toasty came up with these.

Next thing is to install a longer flexible brake hose. Got mine from Summit.

Then it's cut off the old upper shock mount. Take some thick wall 2" square tubing, and this is what I came up with. The long part will be welded to the inside of the frame. The box will sit on top of the frame and be welded also. If you can see the pink dot. That will get drilled, and a 12mm bolt welded to it to mount the shock. Or maybe just bolted

You can also make homemade quick disconnects for the sway bars.
