Can anyone tell me what all is envolved or (even if it is possible)to replace my 2.4 in my 1994 nissan 4x4 with a 3.0 v6. Thanks

It's possib;e, but actually moretime consuming and more expensive than swapping in the following engines:

Ford 302: This V8 fits nicely in our engine bay. Motor mounts and egverything need to be fabbed from scratch.

Chevy 4.3 TBI and 4.3 Vortec V-6: Aftermarket motormounts are avaiable. Easiest of the swaps, and get to keep Fuel Injection. Best $$ to power-to weight ratios. Biggest bang for the buck!

Buick 3.8: Smallish for a Nissan Hardbody, and no Fuel Injection (though it can be upgraded), but still more power than our 2.4

I'm keeping my little 4-popper (at least for now), and running dual cases and 5.14 gears in the axles. I'll still be underpowered for 40" tires, but I'll also be less likely to break any drivetrain parts.

How about this....What is envolved with installing a 1988 Z24 dual plug engine in my 1994 nissan 4x4? [color:"orange"] [/color]

Why would you want to downgrade? The Dual spark/cylinder on the Z24i (fuel injected Z24) was meant for power. It was for emmisions! The KA24E (MFI) puts out more power and torque than the Z24 (carb) or Z24i (TBI).

Can I put the fuel injected head from the 1994 on the 1988 Z24 block?

The blocks are similar, but I've never tried swapping heads (though I have KA24E in my '93, and a Z24i in my '89 parts truck). I would try it on two scrap engines first. If the KA24E distributer will bolt into the Z24 block, then I don't see why it shouldn't work. I know the whole Z24 series interchanges (Z24 and Z24i), but the KA24E was a whole new redesign (the trannies bolt up from '86.5 thru '96.5, just use the starter that goes with the engine--there are 4 different starters available for the 4 cyl!). So, will a KA24E head, bolt to a Z24 (carb) block? Maybe. Will a Z24i head bolt to a Z24 block? 99% sure, yes.

THE 3.0 NISSAN V6 IS NOT MUCH MORE POWERFUL THAN THE 4CYL NISSAN ENGINE IF AT ALL......TRY REMOVING THE INTAKE HOSE AND AIR BOX, YOU WOULD BE SUPRISED AT THE DIFFERENCE.

I know this not a Nissan truck but this might give you some ideas. I swapped in a 1991 Chevy 350 small block into my 82 Dodge D50 4x4. What an amazing increase in power and torque. Trouble is I started breaking axles so I had to swap them out for a Dana 44 up front and a Chevy 12 bolt in the rear. Here are some pics [Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

350s don't fit too well under Nissan hoods (not with stock grills anyway). The radiator won't fit (some pricey custom radiotors squeeze in, still w/no room for a mech. fan though). Ford V8s fit the best under Nissan hoods (302s and 351s). The 4.3 Chevy V-6 also fits nicely.
