I'd like to Run Moody Hill & Crystal Mountain Saturday July 12th. So far I believe there are 3 people interested (including myself)... Ziad (reapur) and Steve (not sure if he has a screen name). This trail is a little farther North than alot of trails we have run - basically it is west of Ft. Collins / Loveland Area. Masonville is a small town that isn't too far from the trailhead.
here's a map link to Masonville.

I ran this trail once a few years back - and if I remember right, there are some challenging spots for stock rigs - but most obstacles have an easier line. Here are some pics from that trip. Ziad also has some pics of his trips up Crystal Mountain located here.

A meeting time and place TBD. This will be a day run for me, but I'm sure if people wanted to camp - they could.

So, anyone else interested?

John

What is the elevation of this trail?
The reason I ask is related to temperature. If it's too warm, I won't be able to run it until I get a better fan in my truck which won't be until mid to late next week.

Thanks!

I think the top of the Mountain is right about 10,000 ft. But- that's just the top of the Mtn. I'm not sure at what elevation the trail starts.

Here's a link to a topo map - Look at Square "26"- Topo map of Crystal Mtn.

The elevation at the start of Moody Hill is about 6600. The temp will probably be around 85. It does start to climb immediately and you will be the shade for quite a bit of the begining.

I was on Moody Hill last fall and found that the middle section was getting worse. You will probably need to do some spotting for stock vehicles.

Wish that I could go, but I have some other plans.

Good luck,
Sport
