Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm a new guy to this thingamagig, so not too sure how everything is organized but speaking of food, is it "ur on ur own" or some sort of group thing? If it's the group thing, I'd be glad to help out. Or does Smiley prepare 3 squares a day 4 everyone? What's the protocol? Can someone enlighten me b4 I embarass myself. Thx, Leland.

Body Damage is Cool
Hey leland,
Usually, its a your on your own for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is usually prepared by one of the "Uwharrie Iron Chefs". Dinner is usually only served for one night, and it is a "eat by donation" event. Food runs the gammut from good ole Nafta Steaks to chilli, to bean soup with steaks, to basmati rice wraps. It can be anything, really.

As for breakfast, when my dad and i have come up in the past, we didnt worry about cooking, but we go up to the local Eldorado Outpost to get morning chow. You can also buy your trail pass there too. Try the Sausage there. Its really good stuff. Plan on getting back by 9:00 to ensure you get on the trail run you want.

Lunch: pack your own.

As for the trail runs, you need to have your truck at the bathhouse when everybody else does. This will let you be in on the planning process of getting in the right group. Everyone will work you into a group, and if you arent comfortable going out your first time, im sure that someone there will let you ride along shotgun.

HTH, i know i was a little nervous before my first trip there.

Ha, now that im writing this, im really wishing that i was going. BAD!

Are there charcol grills at the sites. If not do we have a couple coming. I have a gas one fro coffe and breakfast but not grilling

You've GOT TO BE talking about Rubo's authentic (2am) Armenian Shish-kabobs, `cause I've never taken more than about 5 or 6-hours to prepare a meal in Uwharrie

perhaps i exaggerated a little. i just know i can usually watch a bunch of star trek during the meal preparation marathons. but the results are always worth the wait. you guys are great chefs.

rob, smiley, or anybody else you're welcome in my site.

Speaking of food , anyone want to take a stab at Iron Chef status for this trip. Smiley has payed his dues many times overà

IÆll gladly whip up something or other û but if anyone wants to try their hand at Iron Chefdom, youÆre welcome to it.

[:EEK!!!:]

I think Jordan hit the nail on the head...
We'll probably have ONE group meal, either Friday or Saturday night...

Free is always great! --- I canÆt speak for anyone else û after all, not everyone is a fan of the stuff - but personally, IÆll gladly help you finish off your supply (or at least give it a darn-good try!) --- I love venison, and I havenÆt had any since my grandfather passed away.

Every campsite has a fire pit (with a flip-down grill), and a separate charcoal grill. --- The thing is, neither is very large û which makes cooking for larger groups a bit problematic.

As always, IÆll be bringing my LP turkey fryer, as well as an assortment of pots, pans, and various other implements of the culinary artsà WeÆll figure the rest out (or make it up) as we go along.

I appreciate the "Uwharrie Meal" etiquette lesson, Jordan. Thx. Now I won't embarrass myself too bad.

If y'all think it would help, I could bring an 18.5" Weber charcoal grill and a Coleman portable propane grill I just bought.

Is the campground list up to date?

http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=6290

I'm still debating this, I really want to go but time off will be an issue with all the trips I have planned. If I do reserve a site, do any have water hookups? Are the electrical connections there to accomodate a camper plug?

Suggestions on which site to get to accomodate a popup camper that is about 26' long when unfolded?

Either (or both) would be put to good use - but if you had to pick just one of them to bring, IÆd recommend the Coleman... In addition to being a whole lot more portable/travel-friendly, a Coleman makes cooking breakfast a cinch û and is very useful when loaned-out to the Iron Chefs for dinner.

That being said û let me know if you decide to bring the Weberà If you do, IÆll be sure to pack a large stash of Mesquite, and maybe weÆll have some of my æSquirt-you-in-the-eyeÆ Slow-Roasted Caribbean Pork Sirloins

Thanks for asking - It is nowà

[color:"blue"]Campground Map Updated

àas follows:

[Linked Image]

[color:"darkred"]* Preferred Campsites are indicated in Off-White

NOTE:
- Site 12 is drive-thru configuration, with electrical hook-up.
- Sites 14 and 16 are standard pull-in/back-in, also with electrical hook-up.

NONE of the campsites at Arrowhead have on-site water.

> None of the sites have water on themà
On the map, IÆve added the location of all the water spigots, as well as the dumpsters, and noted the tent sites.

> Electrical hook-up consists of TWO standard GFCI sockets, and ONE 30-amp æpig-tailÆ socket.

IÆd say youÆd probably prefer #12, mainly because itÆs a drive-thru site û but all of the camper (non-tent) sites at Arrowhead are large enough for a 26-footer (although some have more room than others).

I sure hope you can make it û Just let me know if things work out with your schedule and IÆll slap a Toyota logo on whichever site you decide to get

Looks like if I go, #12 would be the one for me-water might be close enough to fill the tank with a hose!. Let me discuss it with the wife this weekend.

Anyone bringing the wife/girlfriend or kids? (I have a 4 month old). If mine were to come, she'd have to stay at the campground with our little boy.
