Sorry to be "flogging a dead horse" but there were some questions asked in this old trailtalk thread that I still have not found answers to.

Since my SAW install I have noticed that my inner CV boot is leaking on the small side/shaft end and I was wondering... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
(1) Are the OEM clamps "user servicable" I cant see any easy way to tighten them.
(2) If using a stainless steel hose type clamp, will that not put the whole thing out of balance due to the tightening nut.
(3) If I replace with a zip tie can that really get the boot tight enough. Even a mechanic I know says he uses zip ties, anyone here have any objections to zip ties.

Thanx

Don't use hose clamps that cost me 400 bucks and cut up perfectly good boots.

Well, for every yin there is a yang- I posted on that old thread (almost a year ago now) And I used the metal hose clamps (back then) and I have had no more leaking grease and no cut boots. I guess you have to be cautious not to tighten them too tight to cut into the boot but tighten them enough to clamp harder then the stock clips (which are metal as well)

Personally I think it would be hard to get a zip tie that tight - but you might try that before the metal ones. I guess you could always wrap the metal clamps in duct tape or something to reduce the sharpness of the metal edge of the hose clamp.

I haven't had any problems with using metal hose clamps either. It certainly doesn't throw the CV out of balance at all, at least not noticably.

Thanks guys, I was more concerned about the balance/vibration issue.
