The Uwharrie National Forest

Announces

OHV TRAIL TEMPORARY SEASONAL CLOSURE
The 16-mile system of designated off-highway vehicle trails in the Badin Recreation area will be TEMPORARILY CLOSED on

December 15th, 2006

AND REOPEN ON

April 1, 2007

The closure affects ALL users, including bicyclists, equestrians, ATV riders, motorcyclists and operators of ALL OTHER motorized vehicles.

Trails are closed to protect trail tread from damage during wet winter weather, and to prevent unacceptable soil erosion and stream sedimentation.

*Wet weather on either end of the planned closure period noted above could necessitate closing the trails earlier than 12/15, or extend the period of closure beyond 3/31. Please call the District RangerÆs Office at (910) 576-6391 for the latest information on the timing of the closure.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!!

Keep me updated on that. I could roll with Clay County any day of the year. Those guys are awesome.

I'll post up when they set a date. It sounds like the 13-15th right now.

Hey we can dream of an March Opening. But if the rain keeps up like it has through the rest of winter I am pretty sure it will be at least april before they open.

I don't know if we are any closer to picking a date here, but for those who are interested, the Clay County 4x4 club has reserved River Rock ORV (outside Atlanta) park for the weekend of April 27-29th. So my vote is for any weekend other than that one

For me, anything other than April 21-29. That is the week of our anniversary, our 5 year anniversary. Looks like we will be chilling out on the beach down in Key West. So if it can be before or after those dates, that would be great.
The best dates in April for me are:
April 6-8
April 13-15
Then anything in May after that.

From looking at all of the replies,

Trooper J prefers March 1- April 8
TrailMystic can't go April 27-29
Wareagle can't go April 6-8 or 27-29
Starchild can't go the weekend of April 27-29 because of a River Rock ORV Trip
Most everybody else is ~pretty~ flexible

My First vote would be on either the first or second week of April. Second vote would be, second week in May.

That is what I see. But by no means am I laying down the law and picking a weekend.(Not yet at least. j/k )

Wake up you guys and pick a weekend!

well we arent getting anywhere like this. As much as i want to make the date fit MY schedule, i dont want to step on any toes, and im sure the same can be said for everybody else.

Smiley, how did we used to do it? It was easy, back in the day....
-J

Actually, now that i think about it, it would be alot easier if everybody says when the CAN go, instead of when they cant.

I can go the first weekend in april. Thats it.

I am personally planning on being up there the 6th-8th of April. I don't see myself making a trip before that, so 4 months is a long enough wait for me. Just hopefully everyone else will think along the same lines .
