And, yes, the Mitsubishi engines were used simultaneously in many platforms. You're unknown bolt hole may be for a commercial application like a forklift or boat, a fwd application in a car model.
Part of your learning about the Mysterybishi is the zen you feel afterward. Having looked at the tasks you performed in 6 hours, I'd not scoff at that. Lots of things to keep track of and separate; but, I wouldn't knock this board or the history that it holds in your frustration. As a long time guy here, but not as long as others, I can pass along the lesson of patience, grasshopper.
The sorting of your no start is just for another day.
Last thing i want to do is bite the hand that feeds me

. I didn't mean to come across as putting this board down. just pointing out that the sticky link is broken before some says " the FSM is online"
Here is why I am struggling. I have 97 montero SR so it has the 3.5 SOHC engine that they only used for a couple years. The link you listed is for the 96 dohc 3.5.
If you look at the picture i posted you will see that is my engine but it is labeled wrong "6G74 2001 model" the car was made in 97 although i believe it would have a 6g74a in it, and is a montero not pajero. But this is my engine for sure. All the other pictures in the FSM could not be my motor. So part of my frustration is i cant find simple information like "firing order" because i either cant read or things are labeled incorrectly.
That is crazy to me that Mitsubishi considers mechanical and electrical separate functions of service, i will give them a tip of the hat by having all wiring harness connectors color coded and unique fittings for each connect.
When i get home im going to check and see if there are any grounds i forgot to connect or put in the right place. Like i said the FSM skips over the 20+ brackets and ground connections, hose fitting etc that needed to be disconnected but you only know that when you try to pick up the plenum and its stuck...
Also thank you for the motivation, i shouldn't scoff at the work i did or the money i saved while still using quality parts, i was just feeling low last night as my car was working before i tried this, and now its not.
