Hello all. I am diving into the front end (unstable and makes banging noise when going in and out of drive ways), including ball joints, bushings, tie rods, and bearings. Where do I find the needle bearing? How do I know if the needle bearing needs to be replaced? It is a Dodge/Mitsubishi discontinued part. The part is available in the Ukraine: http://autopartmaster.com/en/?actio...50466&price_type=r&price_margin=

Also, the boot on the driver's side axle is broken. The boots cost the same as the spindle axle. So I will replace the axle (both side as one has gone the other will too). Do the axle's just pop out of the transfer case or do I need "the special tool?"

I have the service manual.

It is most likely that the needle bearings do not need to be replaced, but, I am making a generalization.

To inspect them, clean them up and look for degradation of the polished surface, rust, or pitting...same on the races. If you're already doing the CV shaft, this is the opportune time for this service.

The CV kinda pops out of the left side, but you'll need a pry bar to extract. Get a replacement c-clip for the inner side.
